Rooms, joinery and the way daylight lands on a surface
Interiors are designed and tested with the materials in hand, so the room is judged before it is built.
Shaunak Jasani leads the interiors. The work starts from material samples and full-scale mock-ups: a corner of joinery, a handrail in the actual timber, a wall sample moved around the room until the light has been seen on it.
Rooms are then tested the way they will be lived in: walked through at dusk, sat in, and opened and closed a hundred times. A room is finished when it has stopped asking to be changed.
