Houses, galleries and buildings shaped by their site
We design buildings starting from the site: its weather, its views and its sounds. The brief is treated as a set of constraints to be heard before anything is drawn.
Our building work covers residential, cultural and hospitality projects. A commission begins with a visit to the site, ideally in the wrong weather, because drawings alone do not show how a place feels.
The brief is then edited down to the one thing the building must do. Options are drawn in plan and section at the same hour of the day, so they are compared honestly, and we keep the two that still make sense after a night's sleep.
